APPROACH

Every person is unique and special in their own way. With this in mind, my approach with each individual is tailored to meet them where they are as we begin the therapeutic process. My practice is rooted in person/child – centered, meaning that I focus on the individual and our collaborative efforts to develop a trusting relationship.

CHILDREN

Children express themselves in a variety of ways, but one of which that is quite common and the most universal is through play. Utilizing play in therapy allows children share, communicate, and confront what is happening in their life. They can actively show me what is going on in their world – their physical and psychological world – from their perspective. My goal is to allow them the space to share their world with me and in turn we work together to explore and develop coping strategies that they can use throughout life.

TWEENS/TEENS

Adolescents may struggle to find their place or find it difficult to communicate with others in a way that is understood. While some might prefer traditional talk therapy, which is always an option, some might prefer a more creative experience in counseling. Art, music, and nature provide opportunities for individuals to express their inner self and share their world with me.

Parents (Parent coaching)

Parents may face – well let’s be honest, will face trying and challenging times and issues with your kids. If you are feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, confused, lost, or a variety of these, please know you are not alone and you have found a place to provide support. We will work to regain/find confidence, demonstrate your parental role, and connect with your child. We can explore discipline strategies and boundary techniques, practice connection techniques, and learn how to implement helpful routines. Parent coaching applies to parents and parental guardians for any existing clients. Please keep in mind that if you need help with your child, I will need to meet with you and your child before moving forward (virtually or in person). My work with you will help you to be the best parent possible for your child.

Caregivers/Helping Professionals

Caregivers and helping professionals encounter a multitude of challenges that are unique and distinctive to the roles they fill. You may experience burnout, fatigue, resentment and for lack of a better word – your tank may be running on empty. In our time working together, you are heard, seen, validated, and supported. We explore the ways to find balance in your life – to ensure that you are being cared for while you actively care for others. We explore and discover the ways to fill your tank. As we uncover the areas and situations where energy is lacking, we can then begin the process of either creating a new sense of satisfaction or restoring a desire to continue your work with others.
